I must have had a clean-install of an operating system at least 25 times since I started using Windows '95 and greater. Again and again I've re-installed, and again and again I've lamented, after the fact, about losing great utilities and freeware applications. Again and again, I go and download shitty freeware package after shitty freeware package (I'm too cheap to buy shareware for these little things), gunking up my computer, just to find a good rendition of whatever function I'm looking for. I rarely remember the NAME of the software I was using, so I can rarely download it again. Bah. So, here is a list of some software I really like. Try 'em out if you want, but note that I'm not associated with any of these developers. I found 'em on some search engine or web site or something.... and used their stuff and liked it, and that's why it's here. MP3 Maintenance - MP3 Merger Version 0.3.0.0 - contact email of e-ware@myrealbox.com
- MP3 Splitter - splits MP3 files into smaller files by time, by file size, etc.
- MP3 Renamer, 1-4a rename - handles mass-renaming of files, good for using on the files created by the splitter, so my dumb burner and mp3 player can play files in order.
General Software Applications - mIRC - IRC client
- ICQ - instant messaging
- WinAmp - MP3 player, WAV creator with the older versions for creating Audio format files
That's all I can remember for right now. I'm sure I'll find new things to add to this article in time!
